BETFAIR GAMING DIRECTOR, UK&I

Role Overview/Purpose:

Reporting to the Managing Director of Betfair, the Betfair Gaming Director, UK&I will have responsibility for the online gaming business in the UK and Ireland including Betfair Casino, Arcade, Exchange Games, Poker & Bingo. The role is responsible for leading the gaming team who need to understand our customers, define the proposition and business outcomes, and ensure these are successfully delivered. As a key member of the Betfair Leadership Team, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they can:

  • Define and ensure the delivery of a market leading Gaming proposition across multiple verticals and customer groups through brand, marketing, product and content
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the gaming proposition
  • Use data and customer insight to ensure long term profitable growth of the business
  • Ensure operational excellence for promotion execution and customer management

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Betfair Leadership Team, ensure that the overall Betfair financial and business goals are delivered
  • Input into the development of the overall Betfair business strategy and financial planning
  • Identify key trends and issues that impact the business and ensure that decisions are made in a timely manner
  • Understand different customer behaviours and needs and ensure that these are central to decision-making
  • Define a winning proposition for Betfair Gaming in the UK and Ireland, maximising the opportunity to cross-sell to the sports-led customer base as well as meeting the needs of gaming-led customers
  • Work with internal teams to define and deliver goals aligned to that proposition
  • Understand gaming business performance and drivers, delivering insight to identify issues and opportunities and ultimately drive decision making
  • Manage marketing and promotional budgets for all gaming products
  • Build strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure Betfair Gaming secures exclusive content, competitive royalties and sufficient weighting on their product roadmap
  • Manage contract renewals and new suppliers in conjunction with the Paddy Power Gaming Director
  • Working with the Product Management function, agree the wider product roadmap and set the overall content strategy, ensuring we offer the best user experience, range and quality of games in the industry
  • Set clear objectives for all Betfair gaming team members that align to the Gaming strategy
  • Lead the ongoing development of the Gaming team, ensuring that initiatives are in place to maintain high levels of engagement and that all team members have personal development plans in place
  • Stay abreast of developments in the regulatory landscape in the UK and Ireland and ensure adherence to all requirements
  • Identify and manage all risks associated with operating the Betfair gaming products in the UK and Ireland

Key stakeholder relationships and deliverables:

  • Partnering with the Digital Marketing, CRM and Betfair brand teams to ensure we achieve the right marketing mix to acquire and retain customers profitably
  • Customer Services: ensure we utilise feedback from customers to inform our decision making
  • VIP: ensure we deliver an outstanding Betfair experience to all our VIP customers
  • Partnering with the Business Intelligence and Data Science function to ensure we develop the right data and models to ensure a data-led player management process
  • Product Management: ensure we offer a market leading product experience with an exciting and innovative experience and a rich promotions portfolio
  • Gaming Operations: ensure we have a brilliant Gaming offering for our customers, that works every time

Education, Qualifications & Experience

  • Strategic thinker and ability to translate into actionable plans
  • Excellent commercial acumen
  • Experience in a senior commercial role in an online business
  • Industry experience preferable but not essential
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
  • Experience in managing and leading a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
