Role Overview/Purpose:

Reporting into the Head of Direct Tax, this role will be primarily responsible for assisting the Tax team with all aspects of the overall Tax strategy for the Flutter Group. You will work closely with Group Finance, Group Reporting and other key stakeholders in the business such as members of the Commercial teams as part of your role. This role has a focus on strategy and providing tax input to the business as it looks to meet its growth targets through expansion..

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assiting with the design of and delivery on a tax compliance reporting and budgetary framework that meets all requirements
  • Creating and maintaining strong relationships with tax advisors and revenue authorities
  • Assisting with the design and delivery of the effective tax rate strategy for the Flutter Group, including assistance with tax reporting and forecasting.
  • Proactively identifying tax risks and tax saving opportunities within the group, including structuring opportunities and efficiencies.
  • Work with the wider Tax team and the business to identify, design and manage tax planning projects in line with Flutter Group strategy
  • Identifying the tax implications of new products and services to ensure they are compliant with local tax requirements
  • Managing tax advisor spend across all work and ensuring in line with budget
  • Communicating advice effectively and clearly to stakeholders in the business and ensuring all advice is implemented correctly and in line with the Tax team strategy
  • Assisting the Tax team in building a strong and best in class function through developing a highly functioning team, responsible for performance and development of more junior members
  • Identifying and managing Group tax issues including:
  • Desigining and implementing appropriate TP policies and documentation;
  • Supporting the growth strategy of the business by providing tax input to M&A activity and entry into new markets;
  • Promoting tax issues across the group and building relationships with key commercial stakeholders to achieve that goal;
  • Managing all interactions with Finance, HR, Legal and managed payroll service teams

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working in a similar environment with a proven track record in tax
  • AITI qualified. Post Qualification Experience working in tax would be an advantage
  • Strong understanding of Irish tax legislation
  • Understanding of general accounting principles and good commercial awareness essential
  • Accountancy qualification an advantage
