The merger of Flutter and Stars Groups, creates the largest online gaming company in the world, and a FTSE 40 listed Group.
This will bring the Group Finance responsibilities of both companies together in one location at our headquarters in Dublin. The merger will add significant breadth and complexity to the remit of the Group Accounting & Reporting function, and this has created a requirement for a highly experienced Finance leader to join the team in this newly created role – Senior Manager – Group Accounting & External Reporting
This high-profile role is responsible for the delivery of external reporting and complex accounting solutions for Flutter, providing critical technical guidance to finance teams across the entire Flutter group.
The role will act as an interface to the Investor Relations function on the Group’s external reporting and market trading updates, playing a leading role in the published group interim and full year financial reporting. This will naturally extend to playing a central role in the smooth delivery of the Group’s statutory audit, liaising regularly with the Group auditor throughout the financial year.
The position provides technical accounting/reporting guidance across all jurisdictions in which the Group operates and essential Finance advice and support to the business on the accounting implications of new business initiatives, new product accounting, and M&A support – covering essential projections and shareholder documents, such as prospectus and circular requirements.
The role must effectively and quickly grasp the finer details of proposed or executed transactions through review of relevant contracts and agreements and collaboration with key cross-functional business partners.
This will involve researching relevant accounting guidance to identify key accounting issues and recommend accounting and disclosure requirements for complex non-routine transactions. The ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, concisely, effectively, and simply will inform all key stakeholders of the accounting and business implications of transactions, particularly those with limited or no accounting background.
The role will also assume responsibility for a range of finance activities to be migrated to Dublin from the Stars Group, including a material debt and derivatives portfolio and all related hedge accounting, as part of a broader integration project, and will lead on establishing robust processes to cater for the technical and broader accounting deliverables for the combined Group.
This role will also play a leading role in various Group Finance and wider projects and initiatives across the entire Flutter Group.
Proven leadership qualities and managerial experience in a similar profile team in a plc / multinational environment or in practice is a pre-requisite for the role. Excellent technical accounting (IFRS), analytical and reporting experience are essential. In addition, candidates should be able to demonstrate commercial acumen and solid experience of building and maintaining strong and productive working relationships with a broad range of demanding business customers and across the wider Finance community.
