The Role…

The merger of Flutter and Stars Groups, creates the largest online gaming company in the world, and a FTSE 40 listed Group.

This will bring the Group Finance responsibilities of both companies together in one location at our headquarters in Dublin. The merger will add significant breadth and complexity to the remit of the Group Accounting & Reporting function, and this has created a requirement for a Finance manager to join the team in this newly created role – Group Technical Accounting & Reporting Manager.

This role is crucial to the delivery of complex accounting solutions for Flutter on all external reporting, also providing critical technical and reporting guidance to finance teams across the entire Flutter group. Importantly, this role is hands on, which means owning the accounting production (in addition to designing the solutions) for very material components of the Group’s financial reporting.

This position will play a central role in the smooth delivery of the Group’s statutory audit, liaising regularly with the Group auditor throughout the financial year. Performing the role effectively will not only demand comfort with complexity, but also strong commercial insight and a deep knowledge of the Group’s business.

Providing advice and support to the business on the accounting implications of new business initiatives, contracts, new product accounting, is a core feature of the role, which will involve close collaboration with key cross-functional business partners. This will involve researching relevant accounting guidance to identify key accounting issues and recommend accounting and disclosure requirements for complex non-routine transactions.

The ability to communicate effectively and concisely, verbally and in writing, is essential to informing stakeholders of the accounting and business implications of transactions, particularly those without a Finance background.

With the merger and integration underway, the role will also incorporate a range of finance activities to be migrated to Dublin from the Stars Group, including a material debt and derivatives portfolio and all related hedge accounting, which will include leading on establishing robust processes for the Group Accounting & Reporting function.

Finally, the role may involve the provision of M&A / transaction support – covering, for example, essential projections and shareholder documents, such as prospectus and circular requirements.

Proven experience in a similar profile team in a plc / multinational environment or in practice is a pre-requisite for the role. Excellent technical accounting (IFRS), analytical and reporting experience are essential. In addition, candidates should be able to demonstrate commercial acumen and solid experience of building and maintaining strong and productive working relationships with a broad range of demanding business and Finance stakeholders.
