Why Our Graduate Programmes are Unique
At Paddy Power Betfair, we understand that to stay ahead of the game, you’ve got to have top talent. That’s why we’ve designed our graduate programmes to accommodate different ambitions and learning styles.
On our Commercial Graduate Programme you will have the opportunity to work across a number of key areas within our business. The programme will consist of five rotations every four months. These may include rotations in the following areas:
Risk & Trading
The Risk and Trading team is at the core of the Sportsbook and Exchange offerings. This department takes on the vast responsibility of setting all of the odds available on the Sportsbooks, for sporting and racing events, as well as TV and politics. This involves calculating the probability of the possible outcomes of each event, ahead of the event and as it unfolds. The team also works with various functions across the Group, striving to deliver industry leading, enjoyable betting experiences for our customers.
The function is split into three Risk & Trading verticals (Racing, Football and Sports): an analytics and modelling team, an operations team and a trading product team.
We strive for excellence in every aspect of the operation and look for people who are numerate, smart and ambitious to take on leadership roles within the function.
The Exchange provides a unique betting proposition, and we work with specialist teams across the entire business to improve our offering, and ensure it continues to provide our customers with an experience they can’t find anywhere else.
There are 3 main areas:
Premium, Exchange Services and Pricing – Our Premium customers require a unique type of account management, often including technical assistance along with business development discussions. We engage our customer base and third-party developers, who create the unique software with which those customers bet. It’s our task to optimise the transactional costs to maximize the competitiveness of the Exchange.
Performance and Planning – We take a cyclical approach based on three important stages of the business lifecycle; Performance, Planning and Action. We’re constantly analysing Exchange performance against defined metrics to understand what’s driving fluctuations. Then our analysis is used to form objectives for our Planning team, often for sporting events that are key drivers of revenue, or for strategic longer-term projects.
Exchange Operations – Customer obsessed, proactive and data-driven, we are responsible for managing the day-to-day running of Betfair’s Exchange as well as driving the strategic development of the Exchange proposition.
The Paddy Power Retail team is responsible for all revenue, product development, marketing, customer interactions and shop staff across more than 600 Paddy Power shops in the UK and Ireland.
We have market leading propositions, some of the highest growth products within the company and perform at a premium compared to our customers. The team continues to constantly work and launch new propositions and customer benefits, improve the customer experience and to grow our market share.
We have a very dynamic team who is working closely with other teams across the business such as the online team to build multi-channel propositions, technology team for new products, the group marketing team for marketing campaigns.

In fact, our Gaming team is a multi-award winning, industry-leading, frontier-pushing, volcanic expression of the Paddy Power Betfair vision: giving customers a fun, fair, gaming experience, wherever they are and whenever they want.
In Gaming, we oversee the rapid acceleration of Paddy Power Betfair’s new business development – creating innovative games, and bringing some of our current products like Casino, Bingo and Poker to new places, new customers, and new formats. In Product Management you are at the centre of one of the industry’s most innovative and fastest growing Sports & eGaming Betting businesses. The betting industry as a whole is ultra-competitive, ever changing and innovative, and that’s what we need from our graduates. We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, intellectual and curious graduates with excellent interpersonal skills to join our team to help us dominate the industry.
Here, you would be responsible for ensuring the business is focusing its significant tech resources on the right products at the right time. You will get the opportunity to work with every area of the business on complex and expansive projects, from Traders with over 10 years’ experience in the industry to highly skilled developers based overseas. Above all, it will be up to you to deliver what the consumer wants and desires in a manner that will make us stand out amongst ort competitors.
The PPB UK & Ireland Commercial team is responsible for the overall UK & Ireland online revenue for the Betfair and Paddy Power brands, and ensuring that the proposition for each brand is delivered consistently and effectively across all touch points. The team works closely with multiple stakeholders across the business, defining what products to build, what promotions to run, what to communicate to our customers and the optimal way of presenting it to them. This requires maintaining excellent working relationships across the organisation.
We are responsible for monitoring and reacting to commercial performance to ensure we’re hitting targets, and defining go to market plans and strategies for key sporting events such as the Cheltenham festival and the FIFA World Cup. The commercial team is regarded as a central function of the organisation which steers other areas of the business on what we should be focusing on both in the short-term and longer-term to deliver our wider commercial objectives.
Strategy & Insights
Our primary responsibility is to support commercial stakeholders in defining i) a commercial strategy and ii) the appropriate financial expectations. We assess business performance and market conditions to provide our commercial stakeholders with a 3/5 year perspective and we do this by applying rigours and considered thought on how we can best understand both our base and the broader gambling customer.
The team is made up of three sub-teams, including:
The Strategy team bring robust integration of company business performance, seeking to build out clear and actionable plans that are subsequently implemented across the wider business
The Market data & insights team are charged with bringing the external internal, utilising varying sources of data this teams looks to provide deep and actionable business insights to commercial stakeholders.
The Intelligence Team aims to provide accessible information & predictions for commercial stakeholders, utilising the wealth of both large and small datasets that are located across numerous platforms.
TVG is part of the Paddy Power Betfair Group and it’s the largest horse-racing TV and betting network in the USA, with its two channels (TVG and TVG2) reaching approximately 40 million homes and its Tote wagering service being the largest legal form of online betting in the US. TVG, based in Los Angeles, is part of our wider US division, which also includes an online Betfair Casino operating in New Jersey. In May 2016, we launched Betfair’s first US horse-racing betting exchange product in New Jersey, bringing the Exchange wagering concept to the US for the first time ever.
