A dynamic trading environment

Big Data? We handle more transactions than all the EU stock exchanges combined.

Our business is based on sport and numbers. For questioning minds that are captivated by both, our FTSE 100 powerhouse is the place to develop a fascinating career.

With revenues in the billions and more transactions each day than all the EU stock exchanges put together, the scale of what we do – and the speed with which we do it – is unmatched.

It’s our mission to provide the right price for tens of thousands of races, matches, games and events across the globe. But we also tackle every strategic conundrum, from ‘How is the market evolving?’ to ‘What’s the best way to interact with customers?’.

From our investment in innovative bespoke software to our unique quantitative trading techniques, we’re always inventing new ways to stay in front.

Our teams

Trading

Our Trading Room provides live price feeds and risk management expertise to some of the largest gaming operators in the world.

Speed is of the essence – we need to be first to market with rates and prices every time. That’s why we’ve invested heavily in our Trading Room. Our bespoke software coupled with quantitative trading techniques mean we can harness huge volumes of data using real-time trading applications.

It’s a dynamic trading environment, making critical decisions 365 days a year.

Risk

We harness the power of large data sets and marry them to our own intellectual curiosity, cutting-edge analytics and modelling skills. Then we produce insights that keep us in front of the competition.

These insights are used by our Sports and Racing Traders, as well as by senior managers throughout the business. With all the investment and resources of a multi-national, plus the agile, inventive approach that’s fuelled our rapid growth, this is an environment where you’ll have plenty of opportunities for development, and real influence too.

Michael - Senior Football Trader

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Michael Bowers and I’m a Senior Football Trader. I’ve recently been promoted to this role and head up the In-Play Football Team responsible for around 30 In-Play Traders.

My department is responsible for pricing and managing risk on all In-Play football events across all PPB brands. We offer in-play odds and monitor the bets in real time on thousands of football matches each week from leagues across the globe.

What’s the best bit of your job?

The best bit about my job is being able to watch football at work!

Would you say Paddy Power Betfair is a great place to work?

PPB is a great place to work as no two days are ever the same. We work in a fast-paced, exciting environment and there are always challenges to overcome. It’s never boring, let’s put it that way. I’ve actually spent the last eight years with Betfair and now PPB so I wouldn’t actually know how it’s different from other employers! I don’t want to move anywhere else.

Which is your favourite Paddy Power Betfair company value and why?

Collaboration – I love working with and helping others, not just across my department but other functions within the business. One thing I like about our floor is the open plan layout, which encourages people to move about and work with one another.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?

New Zealand – I spent some time there a couple of years ago and fell in love with the place. It felt like I was on a different planet.

Who we’re looking for

Firstly, you’ll need strong maths skills. A lot of our people have a degree in Maths, Engineering, Physics or a similar discipline. On top of this, you should have real intellectual curiosity, and a quick-thinking, inventive mind that thrives in a fast-moving environment. A talent for building strong client relationships is important, too.

Where are we based?

We’re based in Dublin
